All items are made from either domestic or imported leathers.
As with most custom made and one-of-a-kind items, the pieces are labor intensive. Leather particularly demands more labor because of the various sizes and weights of the hides. Each hide also responds in different ways and in how it is used. Often to make a garment it requires numerous hides. Patterns have to be modified and the garment is often pieced to accommodate the patterns. This is not unlike making a quilt from many pieces. Also, in placing patterns on leather, holes, deep scratches and discolorations in the leather, have to be worked around, so that the finished garment looks good. Of course, some minor scratches and imperfections will appear, and this is your guarantee that your garment is made of genuine leather. Our choices attempt to bring you the best leathers we can and try to minimize the imperfections.
Our outerwear garments are usually, hand laced with lacings cut from the same hides we use to make your garment. We, also, use slits, rather than round holes, for the areas stitched, which presents a more professional finish. This also, ensures that your garment wont stretch out of shape as soon as if it had holes. This takes more time in the stitching but the finished results are more appealing, to the eye.
The very lightest weight leather hides we use in making shirts, blouses, dresses and skirts, are usually machine sewn but that is the only major difference in the process of making your garment.
When you order a custom leather garment from us, we will send leather samples in the color range you have indicated and of the type of leathers we recommend for your garment, if you are not sure of the leather types and weights. We also include some pictures of styles in the garment you are seeking. Occasionally, leather being somewhat seasonal, we have to contact several suppliers to obtain the color selection you have made and due to limited availability of some leather, there will be a back order on the desired leather. With the fashion leather certain finishes and styles are limited so we ask you to make up to three (3) choices, so we can make your garment as soon as is possible. When you send back the samples with your choices and your size, we can let you know the cost of your garment and obtain a deposit of 50 percent of the garments you are ordering. At that time we order the leather for your garment.

All garments, initially, are based on standard sizing. For customizing, extensive measurements are utilized. When initial inquires are made, an instruction sheet and measurement form is mailed to you for accurate fitting information. We ask for your measurements and size as, we make a muslin prototype of your garment and send it to you for fitting. If any changes are needed, a nip and tuck, here, letting out there, or shortening or lengthening anywhere, we ask you to make notes on the muslin piece. When the muslin piece is returned we make any adjustments and return it for your final approval. When you are satisfied with the fit and return the muslin prototype, then and only then will we proceed in making your garment, using the muslin pieces as the garment pattern. This assures you of a good fitting garment. Also, during this time the leather is being delivered and would be on hand to start making your garment when the fitting process is completed.
Once everything is a go, it takes two to three weeks on the average to complete your garment, depending of backlog of work. We make every attempt to get your garment to you in 6 weeks or sooner. If we are heavily backlogged we will contact you and keep you up to date on our progress.
After garments are finished we treat them with a finish to reduce finger smudging and dirt picked up in normal wear. This finish is NOT Scotchguard nor does it make items WATER PROOF or DIRT PROOF. It only helps some to resist normal dirt and wear.
When hides are unusable for garments, these are made into various accessories or used as trim. Handbags, pouches, fringe, belts, pillows, and even jewelry are some items we also make. These are truly one of a kind to accessorize you and your home. (when we have time)
